Following the success of the student-led mass uprising, which resulted in the overthrow of the fascist government and the establishment of an Interim Government with Nobel Laureate Prof. Dr. Muhammad Yunus as its Chief Adviser Bangladesh has embarked on a new chapter with renewed enthusiasm and energy. Educational institutions across the country have reopened, and normalcy is returning to campuses nationwide.

Academic activities have resumed in universities, including Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU) in Dhaka, which is taking a fresh step forward under the leadership of its newly appointed Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul Latif. A distinguished academic and seasoned Professor of Entomology at SAU, Prof. Latif is widely regarded as a leading researcher in his field. With extensive experience in various administrative roles, he has amassed significant expertise in academic and educational administration.

Since assuming the role of Vice Chancellor, Dr. Latif has been diligently working to address the academic and residential concerns of students. His focus also extends to the overall development of SAU, with a collaborative approach involving students, faculty, staff, and officers. The university community has expressed its happiness at having such a dynamic and capable leader at the helm.

Meanwhile Prof. Md. Abul Basher from the Department of Agricultural Extension and Information System has been appointed as the Proctor of SAU. Upon assuming his new role, Prof. Basher called for the cooperation of students, faculty, staff, and all members of the campus community to ensure a smooth administration.

It is worth noting that, in accordance with a government directive, Prof. Md. Zakir Hossain from the Department of Agricultural Statistics, as the senior-most professor, managed the routine duties of the SAU Vice Chancellor from September 1, 2024, until Prof. Latif officially took office on the afternoon of September 5, 2024.
