On Monday, violence erupted in Satkhira district following Sheikh Hasina's resignation and departure from the country, resulting in the deaths of 14 individuals. Pratapnagar Union Parishad chairman Abu Daud confirmed the deaths.

Among the deceased were Zakir Hossain, president of the Pratapnagar Union Awami League (AL) unit in Ashashuni Upazila, and several of his relatives: his brother Jahangir Hossain, nephew Sajib Hossain, Ashiqur Rahman, Saker Ali, and driver Shahin Hossain. Other victims included Adam Ali (28) from Kalyanpur, Anaj Billah (17) from Kola, Anaz Ali (18) from Kurikaunia, Asafur Rahman (40) from Vaikari, Touhid Islam (30) from Mrigadanga, and Saiful Islam (25), as well as BNP activists Zahid Hossain (28) and Faruk Hossain (35).
Eyewitnesses reported that around 6 PM, a mob attacked Zakir Hossain’s house in Kalyanpur village. Zakir reportedly fired at the crowd, killing Adam Ali, Anaj Billah, and Anaz Ali. The attackers subsequently set Zakir's house on fire and beat him and five of his relatives to death by 8 PM. AL activist Asafur Rahman was also killed in a similar attack later that night.
In Mrigadanga, clashes between AL and BNP supporters led to the deaths of Touhid Islam, Saiful Islam, Zahid Hossain, and Faruk Hossain, as confirmed by Vaikari UP chairman Abu Mohammad Mustafa Kamal.
The police reported arson and looting incidents at Satkhira Sadar, the traffic office, and Shyamnagar police stations. Several minority families expressed fear, with no police assistance available.
Satkhira District Commissioner Mohammad Humayun Kabir stated that efforts were underway to stabilize the situation, with armed forces making public announcements urging people to return home.
