Russia launched 85 attack drones and a ballistic missile on Ukraine overnight, Kyiv reported, hours after Russian President Vladimir Putin and former US President Donald Trump held talks in Alaska.
Ukraine’s air force said Moscow targeted frontline areas in four regions using an Iskander-M ballistic missile and Shahed-type drones. The attacks began on the evening of 15 August and continued into the night of 16 August.
Kyiv added that its air defences intercepted 61 of the drones.
The Alaska meeting concluded without any breakthrough on halting Russia’s ongoing invasion, which began in February 2022 and has killed thousands. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has not yet commented on the summit.
