Iran Security Chief Challenges Trump Over War

Iranian security chief Ali Larijani has sharply criticised US President Donald Trump, warning that the killing of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei would “exact a heavy price” following joint US-Israeli strikes on Iran.

In a post on X, Larijani accused Trump of dragging the American people into what he described as an “unjust war” under the influence of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“Does America still come first – or Israel?” he asked, questioning Washington’s priorities amid the escalating conflict.

The remarks come after US and Israeli strikes began on 28 February and continued across multiple locations in Iran, deepening regional tensions.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Washington had anticipated Israeli military action and acted “pre-emptively” to protect American forces from potential Iranian retaliation.

The exchange underscores the intensifying war of words between Tehran and Washington as military operations expand and fears of a wider regional confrontation grow.
