ACC case against in-charge Patuakhali fertilizer warehouse

Patuakhali: A case has been filed against the in-charge of the Patuakhali fertilizer warehouse for embezzling government urea fertilizer, which is worth about 83 lakh taka, in Patuakhali. ACC filed this case against Haroon Or Rashid. On September 18, the former deputy director of the district anti-corruption commission office in Patuakhali, Wazed Ali Gazi filed the case as the plaintiff.

Earlier on the same complaint Haroon Or Rashid was dismissed from service. Accused Harun Or Rashid of Barishal District, Banaripara Upazila, Baliakathi area, Darbeshbari and son of Md. Son of Izzat Ali.

According to the ACC  sources, Haroon Or Rashid was in charge of Patuakhali fertilizer warehouse from July 27, 2009 to December 3, 2016. Due to the transfer of Haroon or Rashid, Mashiul Islam was given the responsibility for the said post. Although the official registrar was correct during the transfer of responsibility, in reality, 367.70 Matric tons fertilizer shortage there. At that time, the estimated value of which is 82 lakh 88 thousand 816.66 taka. Later accused Haroon or Rashid countersigned the report of the development officer admitting the fact of shortage of fertilizers. In 2017 Additional Chief Manager of Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation Manzoor Reza and Deputy manager Farooq Hossain filed an investigation report against the accused Harun, the concerned department dismissed Harun from the job. Later, the ACC investigated the incident.

Former deputy director of Patuakhali ACC Md. Wazed Ali Ghazi has confirmed to the media that he filed the case after finding the truth of the allegations. - Gofran Biswas Palash
