Patuakhali: A mobile court has conducted a raid on a fake Drinkco juice factory in Kalapara, Patuakhali. On Friday, around 1 pm, a mobile court led by UNO Kausar Hamid seized a large quantity of fake Drinkco juice cans and raw materials for making fake juice from the rented house of Md. Mozammel Hossain on Kazi Nazrul Islam Road in the municipality.

At that time, the accused owner Md. Masud Sikder (35) was sentenced to one year in jail and fined Tk 1 lakh for producing fake Drinkco juice.

The house of convicted Masud Sikder is in Londa village of Dhankhali union in Kalapara upazila. He is the son of Md. Faruk Sikder.

According to the mobile court and local sources, Masud Sikder set up a factory under the name of a fake company called "Kalar Ful" without the approval of BSTI. The juice he produced was named "Drinkcor". It is known that he had been marketing it for a long time.

Acting Executive Magistrate Kausar Hamid said that this fake soft drink is harmful to the heart, liver and kidneys of humans. He conducted this operation based on secret information.

Meanwhile, another source said that the factory was being run under the joint ownership of a few people. It is known that they got lost during the operation.- Gofran Palash
