A court on Saturday deferred until August 13 the hearing on charge framing in a case filed against ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 33 others over the murder of truck driver Md Hossain during the July mass uprising.
The hearing was scheduled for Saturday, but the prison authorities failed to produce accused Forkan Hossain before the court. Allowing a time petition submitted by the prosecution, Judge Robiul Alam of the Dhaka Special Judge Court-4 fixed the new date.
According to the case documents, Hossain was shot in the Chand Udyan area of Mohammadpur on July 19, 2024, while returning home after leaving his truck in the Gabtoli area. He later died from his injuries.
Hossain's mother, Rina Begum, filed the case with Mohammadpur Police Station on August 31, 2024.
Police submitted a charge sheet on November 23, 2025, against 34 people, including Sheikh Hasina, former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former foreign minister Hasan Mahmud, and former Awami League leader Jahangir Kabir Nanak.
