Court Denies Bail to 27 Detained From Jasad Office
A Dhaka court on Monday denied bail to 27 people detained after they allegedly entered the central office of the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Jasad) in Paltan and created a disorderly situation while chanting “Joy Bangla”.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nazmin Akter passed the order after hearing arguments from both the defence and prosecution.
The 27 detainees were shown arrested under Section 54 of the Code of Criminal Procedure and sent to jail following an application by the investigating officer, Paltan Model Police Station Sub-Inspector Md Nazmul Islam, on Sunday night.
Defence lawyers later filed bail petitions, while the prosecution opposed the pleas.
The court had earlier fixed Monday for the bail hearing and ordered that the 27 detainees be sent to jail.
After hearing both sides, the judge rejected their bail applications.
According to the case allegations, the group entered the Jasad office in Paltan and chanted slogans, creating a disorderly situation. The allegations have not been established by a court.
