War Crimes probe body finalizes report in two cases

The investigation agency of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT), Bangladesh, has finalized probe reports in two cases of crimes against humanity committed during the War of Liberation.



The investigation agency of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT), Bangladesh, has finalized probe reports in two cases of crimes against humanity committed during the War of Liberation.

M Sanaul Huq, the investigation agency's chief coordinator, gave this information in a press conference at the office of the agency in Dhanmondi here Wednesday.

He said that the investigation has been completed against 15 people of Bagharpara police station of Jashore district and Kotwali police station for crimes against humanity, including looting, arson, abduction, detention, rape and murder during the War of Liberation.

In this case, 38 people including two witnesses from the seizure list have been made witnesses. 

Among the 15 accused, six arrested accused are Dr Lutfar Rahman, 71, Md Khaybar Rahman, 70, Md Nurul Islam alias Noor Islam ,68, Md Abul Hossain Biswas ,68, Md Abu Bakar alias Abu Bakkar Mollah ,69 and Md Hussain Ali Mollah ,72. The remaining persons are still at large. Therefore, their identities have been kept secret.

In another report, investigations have been finalized against seven accused from Mymensingh's Ishwarganj, Nandail and Kotwali Thanas and Netrakona's Kendua thana. 

The arrested-accused, in this case, are Shahidullah, Habibur Rahman alias Menu Miah, 80, and Md Abdul Hannan alias Hannan Munshi, 70.

The identity of the remaining four accused has not been released as they are yet to be arrested.

Allegations of looting, arson, abduction, detention, torture and murder have been brought against these accused. A total of 31 people have been made witnesses in this case.
