A Dhaka court today ordered the attachment of property belonging to e-commerce platform Evaly’s Chairman Shamima Nasrin and its Managing Director and her husband Mohammad Rassel in a cheque dishonour case.

Dhaka’s Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain passed the order after a hearing on a petition filed in the court. The court fixed November 16 for the submission of the report.

According to the case docket, complainant Mehedi Hasan Khan ordered different goods including three motorcycles, worth Taka 8.54 lakh from Evaly on January 23, last year, and paid the money through the mobile bank. Evaly was supposed to deliver the goods within 45 days of the order, but the accused did not do that.

Evaly authorities on March 9 of last year, gave him a cheque, which Mehedi tried to encash on July 5. However, the cheque bounced. He later sent the accused legal notice on October 14 and subsequently filed the case on November 28.

The court on February 1 of this year, issued an arrest warrant against Rassel and Shamima, and as the law enforcers could not submit the report on executing the order on three hearing dates, the court came up with its latest order. - Special Correspondent
