4 sentenced to death in Gopalganj drug case

A court in Gopalganj on Sunday sentenced four people to death in a case.



A court in Gopalganj on Sunday sentenced four people to death in a case filed under the Narcotics Control Act with Gopalganj Sadar Police Station in the district in 2011.
Gopalganj Additional District and Sessions Judge Md Abbas Uddin handed down the verdict this afternoon.
The convicts are Batul alias Robiul, Sujon Sheikh, Rafiq Mridha and Zakir Shikder.
Advocate Shohiduzzaman Khan, public prosecutor of the court, confirmed the matter.
According to the prosecution, Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested Sona Begum and Zirullah along with 30 phensedyl syrups from the police station area on July 10, 2011. Based on the information obtained from the duo, the DB conducted a drive in Golabaria area and arrested four other people along with 497 phensedyl syrups.
A was later filed against them under the Narcotics Control Act with the police station.
Among them, Zirullah had died before the trial.
