Court decision

Musician Shafin Ahmed, who formerly played for the band Miles, today filed a case against Ashiqun Nabi, Managing Director of Qinetic Network Private Limited and its Director, Ashifun Nabi, on the charge breaching copyright laws.

Hearing the case, Judge Md Asaduzzaman of Dhaka’s Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court recorded the statement of the complainant, took cognizance of the charges, and issued summons, asking them to appear in the court on November 5 in the case.

They have been summoned to provide an explanation regarding the charges brought against them in the case. According to the complaint, Qinetic Network used a hundred songs by Shafin on platforms such as YouTube, Amazon, Welcome Tunes, and Apple Music without his permission for an extended period, which constitutes a clear violation of Bangladesh's copyright laws. - Special Correspondent
