Joypurhat, Jan 31 -- A Joypurhat court on Wednesday sentenced 11 people to death for killing a boy 21 years ago.

The convicts are Bedarul Islam Bedin, Sarwar Rowson Sumon, Mashiur Rahman Ershad, Monowar Hossain Munsur, Nazrul Islam, Rana, Shahi, Tutul, Sujon, Rahim and Dablu.

The court also fined each of the convicts Tk 50,000.

According to the prosecution, on June 28, 2002 the defendants killed a class IX student—Moazzem Hossain and left him in Veti Poshchim Hajipara area.

He was a student at Panchurchak High School in the town.

Later, a case was filed following a complaint lodged by Moazzem's father against a few unidentified people.

Police pressed the chargesheet accusing them all on October 29 in 2003.

Judge of the District Additional Sessions Court-2 Md Abbas Uddin handed down the judgment in the presence of six convicts. - UNB
