Tarique, 59 more acquitted in case under Special Powers Act

Gazipur, Nov 28 - BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and 59 others have been acquitted in a case filed under the Special Powers Act in 2015.

Gazipur Additional District and Sessions Judge Rehana Akter acquitted Tarique and the others accused after a hearing and testimony from seven witnesses on Thursday.

Earlier, the charge sheet was submitted to the court.

The case was filed at Joydebpur Police Station in Gazipur over an incident involving the burning of a bus in the Signboard area. The chargesheet listed 41 named individuals, with 20-25 others included as unidentified accused, said Dr Md Shahiduzzaman, the lawyer for the accused. - UNB
