4 get life term for killing three-wheeler driver in Khulna
Court decision
Khulna, Apr 6 —A Khulna court on Wednesday sentenced four people to life imprisonment for killing a three-wheeler driver in 2018 in the city.
The lifers are Md Babu Hossain alias Babu, Md Zahidul Islam Nayan, Md Faisal Hawladar and Md Abu Raihan, of Khulna city.
Khulna Public Security Disruption Crime Suppression Tribunal Judge Mohammad Saifuzzaman Hero handed down the verdict.
The court also fined the four convicts Tk 10,000 each.
According to the case statement, the convicts strangled driver Mehedi Hasan Rabbi to death at Labanachara of the city on August 11 in 2018 to snatch his three-wheeler.
Later, Rabbi’s father filed a case against some unidentified people. Following the case, police arrested five people including the convicts along with the vehicle from Chotobanda Khan Bahadur area of the city on August 13 of the year.
During primary interrogation, they confessed to their guilt.
On January 31 in 2019, Nasir Uddin Mollah, sub-inspector (SI) of Labanachara police station, submitted a charge sheet to the court against the five. - UNB
