Hanif Paribahan owner acquitted in ACC case

A court here today acquitted Hanif Paribahan owner Hanif Miah of the charges in a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) for failing to submit a wealth statement.


Judge Md Robiul Alam of Dhaka 4th Special Judge Court pronounced the judgement as the charges framed against Hanif were not proved, defence counsel Borhan Uddin told BSS.

According to the case documents, the ACC issued a notice on November 29, 2020, against Hanif Miah for filing a wealth statement. Hanif Miah, however, failed to comply with the notice. The ACC on April 4, 2021, filed the case against him.

ACC deputy director Mohammad Ibrahim on February 19, 2023, filed a charge sheet and the court after that framed charges against Hanif Miah and initiated the trial. A total of seven witnesses were examined by the court on different hearing dates, reports BSS.
