A Chattogram court today denied the bail of Chinmoy Krishna Das, spokesperson for Bangladesh Sammilit Sanatan Jagran Jote and a former ISKCON leader, in five cases filed with city's Kotwali police station.

The court of Chattogram Metropolitan and Session Judge Hasanul Islam rejected the bail petition in five cases including a sedition case, Raihanul Wazed Chowdhury, assistant public prosecutor said.

After submissions of both sides, the court rejected the bail prayer. A team led by Supreme Court lawyer Apurba Kumar Bhattacharya moved the bail petition for Chinmoy.

Additional police were deployed in the court premises to enforce security during the bail hearing,” the APP said.

The five cases filed with Kotwali thana include a case in connection with advocate Saiful Islam murder and a sedition case on charges of desecrating the national flag.

Chinmoy was arrested in Dhaka on November 25, 2024 from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, reports BSS.
