Covid-19 cases on sharp rise in Dhaka; 2 more die in a day

Dhaka, April 4 – In a sharp rise 9 more new COVID-19 positive cases were detected in Bangladesh during in 24 hours ending on Saturday morning , according to Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR).
Two more coronavirus (COVID-19) patients died in the country overnight raising the death toll to eight, IEDCR sources said.The sharp rise on Covid-19 cases has come following the increase of coverage of suspeced cases by tests.
This is the biggest jump in positive tests over a 24-hour period since Bangladesh announced its first cases on March 8.
IEDCR had earlier announced a target of testing 1,000 suspected cases by Friday and collected samples from differrent districts.
Two more COVID-19 patients died in the last 24 hours, while the number of coronavirus cases has stood at 70 as nine more people have been infected by the lethal virus, IEDCR Director Prof Dr Meerjady Sabrina Flora told a virtual media briefing at Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in the city today.
With two more deaths from the novel coronavirus reported on Saturday, the total number of fatalities rose to eight.
Four patients have returned home after recovery, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 30. – GreenWatch Newsdesk
