Dhaka — Right-arm medium pacer Alauddin Babu scalped four wickets, with a hattrick, conceding 21 runs to guide his team Brothers Union to an easy win against Legends of Rupgans in the ongoing Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division T20 Cricket League on Thursday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

Rupganj won the toss and opted to bat first. But they failed to make a good start as they lost four wickets before posting 50 runs on the board. Openers— Azmir Ahmed and Shadman Islam— added only one and seven runs respectively.

They were removed by Alauddin Babu and Sujon Hawlader. Rupganj captain Naeem Islam ended up scoring 38 off 28 balls, and he was the highest runs scorer  for his team.

Sabbir Rahman, Sunzamul Islam and Jaker Ali scored 23, 13 and 12 respectively. Alauddin completed his hattrick off the fifth and sixth ball of the 18th over and the first ball of the 20th over.

He removed Muktar Ali, Shohag Gazi and Nabil Samad in these three successive deliveries. Rupganj, eventually, ended up on 111 all wickets in 19.1 overs.

Alauddin bagged four wickets while Sujon and Saqlain Sajib scalped two wickets each.

In reply, the Brothers opener Mizanur Rahman hit 74 off 52 balls with eight fours and three sixes to lay down a solid foundation. When he fell prey to Mohammad Shahid, the Brothers needed only six runs to seal the game by eight wickets with 27 balls to spare.

The maiden game of the Brothers against Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club ended up with no result due to the rain at the venue. Legends of Rupganj’s first game against Old DOHS Sports Club also ended up with no result. UNB
