BCB Declares Unapproved District Cricket Bodies Illegal

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has warned that any organisation using the title “District Cricket Association” without the board’s approval or recognition will be considered illegal.

In a statement, the BCB said any organisation, institution or committee formed by an individual or group without its approval, recognition or affiliation cannot be considered a BCB-recognised district cricket association.

According to the BCB constitution, the formation and administration of regional and district cricket associations fall under the board’s authority.

Under Article 6.2, the BCB is responsible for establishing regional and district cricket associations, while Article 6.4 gives it authority to recognise, administer and supervise those bodies.

The board said organisations operating outside this framework cannot function as district cricket associations.

Under Article 9.1(b), district cricket associations must also be formed in line with BCB-approved policies and regulations. Compliance with the prescribed structure is mandatory for participation in domestic competitions, including the National Cricket League, National Cricket Championship and age-group tournaments.

The BCB said only associations formed according to its constitution and formally approved by the board will be recognised as “District Cricket Associations.”

It warned that any organisation using the title without the required approval would be considered unconstitutional and illegal.
