Hridoy returns to Bangladesh squad for Afghan Test
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has rewarded Towhid Hridoy for his record-breaking triple century in first class cricket by including him into its 15-member squad for the one-off Test against Afghanistan.
Hridoy slammed a record-breaking innings of 350 runs in a four-day match for Bangladesh A against South Africa A in Potchefstroom earlier this month.
His innings was the highest individual score by a Bangladeshi batter in first-class cricket.
Hridoy made his Test debut during Bangladesh's tour of Zimbabwe earlier this year but failed to make a significant impact and subsequently lost his place in the national squad.
The 24-year-old, however, responded strongly after being dropped, scoring that landmark triple century for Bangladesh A and earning his return to the Test squad.
Although the Test is not part of the World Test Championship, the selectors have named a strong squad today, including experienced campaigners Mushfiqur Rahim, Mominul Haque and Liton Das, along with Hasan Mahmud, Shoriful Islam, Mehidy Hasan and Taijul Islam.
Amite Hasan and Taskin Ahmed have been left out of the squad.
Off-spinner Nayeem Hasan, pacers Musfik Hasan and Iqbal Hossain Emon have been named as travelling reserves.
The one-off Test against Afghanistan will begin on October 9 in the UAE.
