The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced Parvez Hossain Emon as the replacement of Liton Das for the ongoing tri-nation ODI series, involving Afghanistan and Zimbabwe apart from Bangladesh.

Liton, the regular skipper of Bangladesh's ODI team was ruled out of the series with a hip injury today.

The 24-year Emon has played three ODIs so far after making his debut against Sri Lanka in this format last year. He, however, is a T20 regular for Bangladesh, having played 40 matches.

National team physiotherapist Bayjedul Islam confirmed Liton's unavailability in a video message sent by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) today, saying the batter had reported discomfort in his right hip joint yesterday, reports BSS.

"After that, we conducted his MRI. The report detected some problems in his right hip joint," Bayjedul said.

"Despite this, he tried to play after undergoing a fitness test today. But he could not meet the fitness standards we had set. That is why Liton is not available for this series."
