Dhaka, 20 June - Left arm pacer Shoriful Islam left Dhaka tonight for St Lucia to join Bangladesh squad for the second Test match against the West Indies, starting on June 24.
The 21-year old has played four Tests for Bangladesh since making his debut in April 2021.
Shoriful had recently recovered from the injury which he sustained
during the Chattogram Test against Sri Lanka last month.
He was practicing to regain his form in Bangladesh Tigers camp when the BCB president Nazmul Hassan Papon informed him about his inclusion for the second Test in West Indies.
Shoriful said he is extremely excited to have been called up in the team again.
"Last night I knew about my inclusion in the squad when Papon Sir
(Nazmul Hassan Papon) called me and said that I am included in the Test team. So I was mentally prepared," the pacer said here today.
"I am really excited because it was my dream to play Test match on West Indies soil. I have seen the first Test and got an idea where to bowl in Caribbean condition to be successful."
Bangladesh trail the series 0-1 after losing the first Test in Antigua
by 7 wickets.
