Dhaka, 27 July  - Fast bowler Taskin Ahmed is unlikely to get the NOC for the Lankan Premier League (LP), a Sri Lanka-based franchise tournament, as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) wants to manage his workload ahead of the two important events-Asia Cup and World Cup.

Taskin who is now playing Zim-Afro T10 league was approached by Dambulla Aura.

But pacer Shoriful Islam and batter Towhid Hridoy who would play the LPL for Colombo Strikers and defending champions Jaffna Kings respectively were granted their NOC, said BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury.

"Earlier, our policy was to allow the players for maximum two leagues per year but the way the domestic leagues are being held at present, the workload is taken into account rather than the number of leagues," Chowdhury said here today.

"International appearances and participation in future tournaments are another consideration. We are giving clearance considering all those factors. As far as Taskin is concerned, he is still under consideration for the LPL. Considering his recent participation, his workload, we may be thinking differently about him. The other players are given the NOC."

Taskin, the pace spearhead of Bangladesh has of late missed several franchise tournaments due to national commitments. He had the opportunity to play county cricket with Yorkshire but was not given NOC considering the workload ahead of the World Cup.

He had also rejected proposal from IPL's Lucknow Super Giants and PSL's Multan Sultans due to national team commitments.

The BCB later compensated him along with Shakib Al Hasan and Liton Das for opting out IPL.

"The compensation for withdrawing LPL can be a matter of discussion. But I can't tell elaborately on this right at this moment. This is the matter of policy and board will take the eventual decision," Chowdhury informed.
"We are thinking conservative management regarding NOC, considering the Asia Cup and World Cup. We are basically considering the workload. Those who were previously unavailable for whatever reasons, may be given a chance to play. So it will depend on player to player as we'll assess individually."

Bangladesh Test and T20 captain Shakib Al Hasan and Mohammad Mithun, out of the national team currently, are the two players from Bangladesh to play the LPL also. Both are roped in by Galle Titans.

The LPL will run from July 30 to August 20.
