Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan announced that he would leave one day international (ODI) captaincy right after the World Cup.
Shakib revealed the matter in an interview on sports channel T-Sports on Wednesday night.
The all-rounder said that captaincy doesn't add any value to his career at this stage and he just wants to enjoy the game at the moment.
He said, "This World Cup is the end. I will not (captain) a day after that. That's why I didn't want to take the responsibility before the Asia Cup. I want to enjoy, play, and perform. Is captaincy adding any value to my career at this stage? I don't think so".
Shakib also informed that he would retire from international cricket after the 2025 Champions Trophy. He has plans to leave T20Is after the T20 World Cup next year and could quit Tests after the World Cup.
On August 11, Shakib took over as ODI captain for the second time. It was then said that he will lead the team in the recently concluded the Asia Cup and the World Cup. For Shakib, World Cup is his last mission.
