
Dhaka, 18 Oct -Bangladesh Emerging cricket team made a disappointing start to the Sri Lanka tour, suffering a crushing 99-run defeat to Sri Lankan Emerging team on DLS method in the three-match one-day series opening game today at Dambulla.
Put into bat first, Sri Lanka were unable to play full 50 overs quota due to rain and reached 245-8 in 48.1 overs, riding on three half-centuries.
Skipper Ahan Wickramasinghe was the top-scorer for the side with 68 not out.
He struck six fours and one six in the knock for which he played only 53 balls. Navod Paranavithana made 66 while Mohammad Shamaaz scored 62.
Bangladesh fast bowler Ripon Mondol scalped 4-32.
Bangladesh's revised target was set 252 in 47 overs but the visitors came up with dismal batting show to be all out for 152 in 38 overs. Abdullah Al Mamum battled lonely to make highest 64. Skipper Mahmudul Hasan Joy was the next-best scorer with 18.
Ashian Daniel was the wrecker-in-chief, claiming 4-30 while Eshan Malinga returned with figures of 3-36.
The second one-day is on October 19 while the third and final one is on October 22. Thereafter the two teams will play two four-dayer game.
