Dhaka, 5 Nov -Chattogram Division edged closer to Khulna Division

in topping the National Cricket League (NCL) Tier-2 as they registered their third victory, crushing Barishal by 300 runs at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium today.

Both Chattogram and Khulna had six points but the latter is at top still due to better run rate.

Off-spinner Nayeem Hasan claimed a match of 8-56 (3-31, 5-21) and former Bangladesh Test captain Mominul Haque (81, 84) hit two 80-plus knock to lead the side to the huge victory.

After being sent to bat first, riding on opener Parvez Hossain Emon (82) and Mominul Haque's (81) 80-plus knock, Chattogram posted 298 before being bowled out.

Their bowlers then helped them earn 98-run lead, dismissing Barishal for 200 runs.

Mominul Haque missed out his ton again, hitting 84 as Chattogram declared the second innings on 256-9, setting 355-run target for Barishal.

However, Nayeem Hasan derailed them, taking 5-21 as Barishal were skittled out for only 54 to concede the thumping defeat.
In other match of NCL Tier-1, Shadman Islam and Naeem Islam hit their career-best knock but their team Dhaka Metro had to be pleased with a draw against Sylhet Division.

Shamdan scored his first class best 250 and Naeem added 221 as Metro compiled a mammoth 601-5, before declaring the innings. Sylhet replied with the second straight century of Shamsur Rahman Shuvo.

Shuvo brought up his 22nd first class ton and made 101 to help Sylhet put up 494 before being all out.

At stumps on final day, Metro reached 113 for no loss with Naim Sheikh batting on 62 and Zahiduzzman on 50.
