Dhaka, 17 Feb —All members of the visiting Afghanistan squad, including those who were infected with Covid-19 earlier, tested negative for the lethal virus in Sylhet on Wednesday.

After being negative in the test, the squad started their practice session at the Sylhet Cricket Stadium today as schedule.

The Afghanistan squad received a blow when they came to know that eight cricketers, some supporting staff and a wife of a cricketer tested positive. As per the suggestion of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) the entire squad then went into isolation for 48 hours before the they were re-tested.

The Afghan team, who arrived in Bangladesh well before the limited over series, largely due to acclimatize with the condition, is currently in the country on their own terms. They will enter the BCB's bio-bubble only on February 19.

Afghanistan will play a three-match ODI series and two-match T20 International in their tour in Bangladesh. The ODI series is an important one for both teams, as it is part of the ICC's ODI Super League.

The three ODIs are scheduled on February 23, 25 and 28 at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram before the teams move to Dhaka for two T20Is on March 3 and 5.

The Afghan team will travel to Chattogram on February 19 after finishing their training camp in Sylhet.
