India declared their second innings at 287-4, setting Bangladesh an imposing target of 515 runs on day three of the first Test in Chennai.

Rishabh Pant scored 109 and Shubman Gill remained unbeaten on 119, forming a crucial 167-run partnership for the fourth wicket. This came after India dismissed Bangladesh for just 149 runs on day two.
