Dhaka, 19 Oct —Bangladesh A will take on Afghanistan in their second match of the Emerging Asia Cup Sunday at Muscat, Oman in a bid to make a giant leap toward the semi-final.

The second string Bangladesh team got off to a winning start to the tournament with a five-wicket win over Hong Kong. The victory, though, was not as straightforward as it should be against an ICC associate nation like Hong Kong.

Hong Kong put up 150-8 after batting first and kept Bangladesh in pressure, before Captain Akbar Ali’s rapid 24 ball-45 bailed them out the danger and gave them precious two points.

Bangladesh, which eyed to make it final in this tournament, knew that Afghanistan would pose tough challenge. But still, they are confident of making it two in two, which could put them in favourable position to seal the last-four stage.

Bangladesh will face off Sri Lanka in their last match of the group phase on Tuesday.
