Bangladesh reach first ever final, beat Sri Lanka

Bangladesh reached the final of the Blind Cricket World Cup' 2024 for the first time eliminating Sri Lanka by six runs in a keenly contested 2nd semifinal at the Multan Cricket Stadium in Pakistan on Sunday.


Bangladesh will play the final on Monday (Dec 2) against hosts Pakistan, which outplayed Nepal by 10 wickets in the first semifinal.

In the day's 2nd semifinal, Bangladesh batted first and piled up a huge total of 244 runs for the loss of six wickets in quota 20 overs, featuring 177 runs in the opening stand by Salman and Arif.

Salman quick-fired 97 runs off just 49 balls while Arif made 81 runs off 56 runs, reports UNB.

In reply, the Sri Lankans, riding on Chanda Deshpriyo's 86 runs, fought hard for their existence but were forced to fold their innings at 238 runs for 9 in stipulated 20 overs to concede a narrow six runs defeat.
