Bangladesh U19 team concede 7-run defeat to SL in Asia Cup

Dhaka, 3 Dec - Bangladesh Under-19 team tasted a 7-run defeat to Sri Lanka in a thrilling contest in the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup today at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in UAE.

The defeat meant Bangladesh ended the group phase as runners-up. They have the possibility to meet Pakistan in semifinal.

Thanks to Vimath Dinsara's 106, Sri Lanka put up 228 before being all out in 49.2 overs after opting to bat first. Captain Vihas Thewmika was the next-best scorer with 22 while Lakvin Abeysinghe made 21.

Al Fahad was the most successful bowler for Bangladesh with 4-50 while Rizan Hossain claimed 3-40.

Bangladesh were all out for 221 in 49.3 overs despite keeping them in winning position for most of the time. Opener Kalam Siddiki made the highest 95.

Debashis Deba added 31 and Farid Hasan was not out on 24.

Bangladesh earlier beat Afghanistan by 45 runs and Nepal by five wickets.
