Dhaka, 19 Dec -Soumya Sarkar is all set to miss some of the matches of the 11th edition of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) at the beginning.
A finger injury, sustained during the second T20 International against West Indies, ruled him out for at least three week, according to the national team physio Bayjedul Islam Khan.
As a result, he is ruled out of the final T20 match against West Indies, which starts Friday and will also miss few matches of BPL.
This is in fact a big blow for Rangpur Riders as Soumya has been in superb form of late. Soumya was instrumental in helping Rangpur win the maiden Global Super League (GSL) T20 tournament in West Indies recently. He was adjudged man of the tournament and also carried the form to the national team.
Soumya injured his right index finger while attempting a catch in the seventh over of the West Indies innings and did not take further part in the match.
"Soumya sustained a cut injury on his right index finger while fielding, which required five stitches," Bayjedul Islam Khan said.
"An X-ray was conducted after the match, revealing a subluxation in the affected area. His recovery may take about three to four weeks."
