Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto became the first batter from his country to hit centuries in both innings of a Test twice.

His feat came against Sri Lanka on Day 5 on the first cricket Test, when he followed his first innings 148 with 125 not out in the second innings.

His first such feat in a Test came against Afghanistan in 2023 when he made 146 and 124. The milestone made him the only second Bangladeshi batter after Mominul Haque (176 and 105) who did it against the same opponents in Chattogram in 2018.

Shanto, however, became the 14th batter in the world cricket to hit centuries in both innings more than once. The other 10 batters included the great likes Herbert Sutcliff, George Headly, Clide Walcott, Sunil Gavaskar, Greg Chappell, Alan Border, Rahul Dravid, Mathew Hayden, Aravinda de Silva, Ricky Ponting, Kumar Sangakkara, Jaques Kallis, David Warner.

Gavaskar, Ponting and Warner achieved the feat thrice in their career, reports BSS.
