Young Tigers fail to whitewash South Africa in youth ODI series

Dhaka 23 July-After winning the first two matches with ease, Bangladesh Under-19 team conceded a 14-run defeat on DLS method in the third and final youth ODI against South Africa at Willowmoore Park in Benoni on Tuesday.

The youngsters of Bangladesh won the first match by 130 runs and second one by 104 before winning the practice match against the same team by 194 runs. 
However losing the third game denied them a clean sweep in the series.

Bangladesh's top order batters came all guns blazing once again to help the side post a mammoth 320-9, going past their previous best of 304 in Youth ODIs against the same team, set a decade ago.

They put on a record total on the board despite a brilliant bowling of Ntando Soni who claimed six wickets.

Opener Rifat beg was the top-score for the side with 86 while his fellow opener Zawad Abrar made 68. Kalam Siddiki scored 85.

South Africa opener Jorich Van Schlkwyk hammered 156 ball-164 not out with 14 fours and four sixes as South Africa reached 277-3 in 44.4 overs after which fading light brought the match to an abrupt end.

According to the DLS method, South Africa were declared winners by 14 runs.

After completing the South Africa and Zimbabwe tours, the young Tigers will head to England for a two-week tour in September.BSS
