Dhaka, 28 July - Bangladesh pace spearhead Taskin Ahmed has categorically denied an assault allegation made against him after a general diary (GD) was filed with Mirpur Model Thana today.

Sifatur Rahman Sourav, who claimed to be the victim, told several news outlets that Taskin called him late Sunday night and physically assaulted him. He also said a GD was lodged with the police in this regard.

Denying the allegation, Taskin said the claim was baseless and an attempt to defame him.

"I didn't hit anyone. This is a deliberate attempt to harass me," Taskin told reporters today.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board's (BCB) media committee chairman Iftekhar Rahman Mithu said the board is aware of the incident.

"But we don't know the full details yet," Mithu said.

"Before taking any decision we have to know whether it is true or false. We can't comment anything on this until we know better."

Mithu said the matter is outside of BCB's jurisdiction, but "still it is a matter of discipline." BSS
