Murad earns Test debut as Bangladesh field first vs Ireland

Ireland won the toss and chose to bat first against Bangladesh on a batting-friendly surface at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Monday.


Bangladesh handed a Test debut to 24-year-old left-arm spinner Hasan Murad, who received his cap from senior spinner Taijul Islam during the team huddle before the toss.

Murad joins Taijul and Mehidy Hasan Miraz in a three-man spin attack, while Hasan Mahmud and Nahid Rana lead the pace department.

Opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy returned to the side after missing the Sri Lanka tour in June–July.

Ireland, meanwhile, handed Test debuts to Cade Carmichael and Jordan Neill.
