National hockey team to play preparation match against India Saturday

Dhaka, 17 May  - The Bangladesh national hockey team will play a lone preparation match against India scheduled to be held on Saturday (May 21) in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The national hockey team today (Tuesday) reached Jakarta from Bangkok after completing their Asian Games qualifiers.

Bangladesh Hockey Federation's acting general secretary Mohammad Yousuf said they have communicated some countries to arrange some preparation matches in Jakarta and India finally agreed to play a lone the preparation match against national hockey team.

He said they team would start their full fledge training tomorrow
(Wednesday) for the preparation match.

Bangladesh national hockey team finished runner-up in the Asian Games qualifier hockey as they went down a 2-6 goal defeat to Oman in the final held Sunday last in Bangkok, Thailand.

Earlier, in the group matches, Bangladesh got off to a winning start in
the tournament as they beat Indonesia by 3-1 goals in their pool B opening match and confirmed their Asian Games participation after defeating Sri Lanka also by the same identical margin in their second match of the tournament.

The boys and red and green emerged as group champions defeating Singapore by a solitary goal in their third and last group match.
