Man’s body found buried in Joypurhat paddy field



Joypurhat, May 12 - Police on Tuesday recovered the body of an unidentified man buried in a paddy field at Nawjor village in Akkelpur upazila of Joypurhat district.

According to police, acting on information received through the national emergency service 999 around noon, a team rushed to the spot and recovered the body in the afternoon.

Injury marks were found on different parts of the body and the hands and legs of the victim were tied. The identity of the deceased, aged around 35-40, could not be known yet.

Locals said although the body had been buried, the victim’s two legs were visible above the ground.

Police suspected that the man had been killed two to three days ago.

Shaheen Reza, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Akkelpur Police Station, said the body was sent to Joypurhat 250-bed General Hospital for an autopsy and legal steps will be taken after investigation. - UNB
