Missing ex-Jubo Dal leader found dead in Tangail; 5 held

A former Jubo Dal leader was found dead in Ghatail upazila of Tangail on Wednesday night, three days after he reportedly went missing.  


The deceased was identified as Mohammad Mintu Khan, 47, former organising secretary of Sangrampur union unit of Jubo Dal and son of late Abdul Majid Master, former senior vice-president of upazila unit BNP.

Officer-in-Charge of Ghatail Police Station Moksedur Rahman said they recovered the body from Maicha Beel.

He said Mintu went missing from Chamri Bazar in the upazila around 9:30pm on May 31.

A general diary was lodged at Ghatail Police Station on June 1 in this regard.

Later, police arrested one Sohel Rana for his suspected involvement in the incident, reports UNB.

Following interrogation, police arrested four more people in this connection.

Based on information provided by the arrestees, police conducted a drive in the Maicha Beel near the Manpura Bridge on Wednesday night and recovered the body of Mintu, said the OC.
