Youth shot by miscreants in Khulna

A 22-year-old youth was shot and injured by unidentified miscreants in Khulna city on  this morning.


The injured, Md. Ratul Sheikh, son of Sher Ali, is a tenant at a house owned by Abu Hossain in the PremGoli area of Harintana under Labanchara Police Station.

According to police and local sources, Ratul and several other youths were staying at a sand field in the Ashibigha area under Labanchara Police Station at around 7 am when locals heard gunshots. 

They rushed to the spot and found Ratul lying on the ground with a bullet wound to his right thigh.

The assailants fled the scene immediately after the shooting. The motive behind the attack could not be known immediately.

Locals rescued Ratul and took him to Khulna Medical College Hospital for treatment.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Labanchara Police Station Sayed Mossarraf Hossain said police visited the hospital after receiving information about the incident and inquired about Ratul's condition.

"The victim has not yet disclosed any information to police regarding the reason behind the attack. Efforts are underway to identify and arrest those involved persons," the OC said.

Earlier, on June 28, unidentified miscreants shot and injured scrap trader Rafiqul Islam Manik, 40, in front of Ideal Nursing Home Clinic in the Gollamari area of Khulna city after he allegedly refused to pay extortion money, reports BSS.
