Patuakhali: An allegation has been made against a young man named Saidul Khan (32) in Kalapara, Patuakhali, of attempting to rape a class one student by offering him 20 taka. The child's mother filed a case with Kalapara Police Station on Sunday midnight in this incident.

Earlier, the incident took place in the Nachnapara Colony area of Tiakhali Union of the upazila last Friday evening.

Police and family sources of the victim child said that the accused Saidul, a resident of Eatimkhana in Kalapara town, went to visit his father in-laws' house in the Colony area a few days ago. Last Friday evening, he offered the child 20 taka and took him to a secluded place between his father in-laws' house and the child's house and attempted to rape him. Later, he gave her 20 taka and threatened to beat her if she told anyone about the matter. When the child bought biscuits with the money and went home, her mother asked about the money, and she revealed the attempted rape. The locals tried to resolve the matter amicably, but failed. Later, she filed a case with the police station on the advice of her relatives.

Kalapara Police Station OC (Investigation) Elias Talukder said that efforts are underway to arrest the accused. The victim child has been sent to Patuakhali Medical College Hospital for medical examination. - Gofran Palash
