464 held by DMP in 24 hrs across Dhaka

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 464 people in the capital over the past 24 hours in its regular anti-crime operations.


In these connections, police filed 52 cases during the period.

Of the total, 35 were arrested by Ramna Division, 41 by Lalbagh Division, 53 by Wari Division, 48 by Motijheel Division, 58 by Tejgaon Division, 123 by Mirpur Division, 44 by Gulshan Division, 54 by Uttara Division and eight by the Detective Branch (DB).

During the drives, police recovered one foreign-made pistol, one magazine, three rounds of ammunition, one foreign-made revolver and two samurai swords, according to a DMP press release.

Police also recovered 86.59 kilograms of cannabis, 3,763 yaba tablets, 3.35 grams of heroin, one bottle of foreign liquor, three bottles of locally produced liquor and 21.2 litres of medicinal chemicals.

Police also rescued one victim during the operations conducted in different areas under DMP's jurisdiction.

The arrested individuals were taken into custody in connection with various offences, while weapons, drugs and other items were recovered from them, reports UNB.

Legal proceedings against the arrested persons are underway.
