The deceased was identified as Zakir, son of Ayub Ali of the area.
Inspector Surejit Barua, in-charge of Debpur Police Camp, said Zakir and his elder brother Shakil, 32, first engaged in a heated argument over family matters on Tuesday night.
At one stage, Shakil beat Zakir up mercilessly, leaving him critically injured and unconscious, reports UNB.
Later, he succumbed to his injuries.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to a local hospital morgue for an autopsy.
The body bore injury marks on the back of the head and both legs, as well as a cut wound on the forehead, said police.
However, the exact motive behind the killing could not be confirmed until the investigation is completed, Inspector Surejit said.
“Necessary legal action will be taken against those involved after the investigation and completion of the legal procedures,” he said.
