Youth hacked to death in Gazipur

A 23-year-old youth was hacked to death by a group of criminals in Tongi area of Gazipur early Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Joy, son of Sirajul Islam of Bank Math slum area in Tongi.
Locals said several youths attacked Joy with sharp weapons while he was returning home at night around 1 am and fled the scene.
On information, Tongi Railway Police went to the spot and recovered the body.
The body was sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Police are examining CCTV footage from the surrounding areas to identify those involved in the killing, reports UNB.
SI Nur Alam Hossain, in-charge of Tongi Railway Police Outpost, said preparations are underway to file a murder case with Kamalapur Railway Police Station.
