Woman dies after being stabbed by stepson in C'nawabganj

A woman died after allegedly being stabbed by her stepson following a family dispute in Bholahat upazila of Chapainawabganj on Saturday evening.


The deceased was identified as Ayesha Begum, 35, wife of Babul Hossain, a resident of the area.

The incident occurred in the Dharampur area of Jambaria Union in the upazila.

Locals said that during a family dispute, Ayesha's stepson Ashiqur Rahman allegedly stabbed her several times with a knife, leaving her seriously injured.

Neighbours rescued the critically injured Ayesha and rushed her to Shibganj Upazila Health Complex, where doctor Dr Mohin declared her dead upon arrival.

Abdul Barik, Officer-in-Charge 9of Bholahat Police Station, said police recovered the body after being informed of the incident.

The OC said legal action would be taken in connection with the incident, reports UNB.
