A young man was hacked to death by miscreants in the Labanchora area of Khulna city on Saturday night.

The deceased was identified as Shahidul Islam Colin, 35, son of Mahtab Uddin hailing from the Dargah area.

According to police and locals, Colin, who mostly lived away from home, returned to his family on Saturday afternoon and went out again around 7:30pm.

Around 11:30pm, a local resident found him lying on the road about 500 yards from Kashemia Jame Mosque and informed his family.

He was then rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH), where attending doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Officer-in-Charge Syed Mosharaf Hossain of Labanchora Police Station said there were marks of injuries caused by a sharp weapon on Colin’s body, reports UNB.

He had seven previous narcotics cases and one murder case filed against him, the OC said, he usually stayed outside the family home and occasionally returned to see his parents. “We are investigating the incident.”
