A 43-year-old jewellery shop owner was found dead in the Larihara area of Chattogram's Patia upazila early on Wednesday.

A 43-year-old jewellery shop owner was found dead in the Larihara area of Chattogram's Patia upazila early on Wednesday, police said.

The deceased was identified as Biman Dhar, the owner of a jewellery shop in Raharttarpool of Chattogram city and son of Dulal Dhar of the upazila.

Being informed by local people, police recovered the throat-slit body of Biman and sent it to Chattogram Medical College and Hospital morgue for an autopsy, said Tarique Rahman, additional police superintendent of Patia Circle.

Police suspect that miscreants killed him while he was returning home from his store, he said.

Police also seized a motorbike and a sharp weapon from the spot. "Investigation is on to unearth the motive behind the killing and nab the killers,” said Tarique.
