Female member of Ansar Al Islam arrested in Dhaka

A female member of banned militant outfit Ansar Al Islam was arrested from city’s Badda area.



Dhaka, Aug 29 :  A female member of banned militant outfit Ansar Al Islam has been arrested in a drive by the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of police in city’s Badda area.

The woman, held on Thursday, was identified as Jobaida Siddika Nabila.

Police seized a mobile SIM card and memory card from her which she used for terrorist work, said additional police Commissioner of CTTC Md Asaduzzaman on Sunday.

According to police, Nabila through her profile connected with the official Facebook page of Ansar Al Islam ‘Titumir Media’ in 2020 and got acquainted with extremist ideologies and started cultivating it.

Later she chose many online platforms like Facebook, Telegram, Chirpwire to spread the ideology through her many fake profiles.

A case has been filed in this regard and the arrestee is currently placed on 5-day remand, said police, reports UNB.
