Two suspected drug peddlers, one of them a Rohingya refugee were held in Chattogram with drugs worth Tk 10 crore.

Chattogram, Oct 9 :  Police have arrested two suspected drug peddlers, one of them a Rohingya refugee, in Chattogram and seized narcotics worth Tk 10 crore from their possession.

The arrestees have been identified as Foysal Ahmed alias Fazal, 29, son of Gura Mia and Zahid Alam, 20, son of Anjar Hossain of Kutupalong Rohingya camp in Teknaf upazila.

Tipped off, a police team intercepted a pickup can carrying furniture on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Satkania upazila on Friday night, officials said.

"A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the massive drug haul -- two kgs of crystal meth worth Tk 10 crore," said additional superintendent of Satkania Police Circle, Zakaria Rahman Ziku.

The drugs were being taken to Dhaka from Cox’s Bazar, he said.

Crystal methamphetamine (crystal meth) -- popularly called ice -- is a pure form of methamphetamine. Usually smoked, it is highly addictive, reports UNB.
